Weighty subjects regarding "music"

Connected: How to get more music into your life

Interesting food for thought. Portable, disposable music and today's new business models for downloading music... Where does the artist fit in? Are they even necessary in these new models? via

Zavoloka

ZAVOLOKA is an electronic musician and graphic designer from Kyiv city, Ukraine. She started making electronic music in 2000.

She has graciously offered many of her audios for free (mp3) at her website.

If you live in Europe, it seems most of her recent live shows happen there (and of course, the Ukraine). I hope she is able to travel to the US someday soon.

The youngest noise pixie on the planet!

The ctephin family (friends and fellow/sister noise artists) are well on their way to raising the world's first all-girl noise band.

Here's proof:

The video is of one of their youngest children jammin' on the keys.
(I love the sway just before she begins...)

BCO 'Sad For Now Waltz' (VIDEO)

Happy Autumnal Equinox, everyone...

So sorry things have been rather vacant around here of late. There have just been too many events happening all at once and not many chances to jot them all here, but I am trying my best to put interesting stuff up whenever I can, not to mention still find time to read about everyone else's excellent doings at their own blogs and websites. Three cheers for creative people doing such great work (and so much of it!) I thank anyone who still happens to drop in and read my infrequent postings here at Olla, and appreciate you continuing to do so.

Speaking of evidence of creative doings...

dAS was poking 'round the web the other night and came across this amazing little video, created by a friend of the Reverend Fenderson of DRT. It may be my foggy old brain not remembering, or possibly that I've just been so busy being elsewhere and not paying attention to my usual blog circuit, but somehow I completely missed seeing this altogether.

SAD FOR NOW WALTZ (VIDEO)

It's really, really wonderful!!!

The video was created by Rev. Beau Daschious, who used a track selected from our Things Fall Down release as the background music (Sad For Now Waltz).

Here's the link to the original original post from DRT.

Kim Il Songs (and other themes...)

Here's what a very rough translation from French to English via Babelfish has to say about this little nugget of weirdness:

Realized within the framework of large is delirious collective initiate by Basile Vignes, this band forms part of the innumerable works of art (if one can say) dedicated to the Glory of Pole star of the Nation (North-Korean), Bienfaiteur of Humanity and Notorious Goîtreux Mort, of which several thousands of specimens of its major work "the Revolution and Construction" were found by Basile in his own cellar (clean and large), inspiring one to him to défouloir collective and creative which was crowned by a multi-screens installation with the Museum of Modern art of Paris, by a report on Basile carried out by television Sud-Coréenne (eh yes!) and by an intervention of the same Basile to the newspaper TV 20 hours, invited as Korean National Hero, a country where it never put the feet.

For further amusement and confusion (but some good audio fun), please follow this link to some place far, far away (apparently somewhere in France....)

"You know what it is? The computer and the modem. Very boring. You know what it is? I think you do...."

Also for your listening pleasure, found a nice long real audio chunk of a WFMU show featuring this band (who are called Lefdup & Lefdup, as I've just found out...)

Metaversal Waterweek Forecast (Aug 31-Sep 6)

Brought to you (after a brief hiatus) by Johannes Ayres...

THE METAVERSAL LIGHTCRAFT
HYPER-ABYSSIC ASTROLOGY FORECAST
AND LIGHT SPECIFIC YOGA PLATFORM
THE METAVERSAL AIRWEEK FORECAST

BRIAH
THE WORLD OF WATER
SECOND QUARTER MOON
-WATERWEEK-
August 31st to September 6th

Bring me my crows of burning gold,
bring me sparrows of desire...

Greetings Fellow Lightpilots... So what can we expect from this second week of the first Virgo Lunar Cycle of 2006? The Moon's second quarter is where we utilize the power of Metaversal Mind, Water, the kabbalistic world of Briah, the Pattern, through the medium of our Emotional and Mental bodies. Since Briah is the realm of Gods and Faeries, Angels and Goddess's, Images and Symbols, Visions and Voices, we can expect nothing less than knowledge and conversation with the patterns of our deep Selves, what Carl Jung calls "aspects of The Self. The unified, self-organizing entity we are expressions of". To understand Briah, the World of Pattern, we have to talk about Daath (Hebrew for knowledge). Gnosis, from Greek, also means knowledge. Gnosticism, Sufism, Kabballah are based in Daath. Daath is the Divine FatheR and MotheR eternally united in the activity of the ooh la la... sexual force, always in Yesod. The Holy IaooaI understand that within the Lightcraft are the Father and the Son, joy riding essentially, because they have the key. Who gave them the key? I did.

Do not expect curb service with the new model of our solar system that we have now, because it is a mechanical model. While I am disappointed in the new mechanical model of our solar system, I am going after the Pluto at the Galactic Center high road of reaction. You can teach an old astrologer new tricks - or he'll teach himself. So remember, one day, you will go where the stars go and you will know what the stars know. After you have learned all their secrets and think the way they do and your love caresses their heart like the walls of a noonday clock, then you will have a revised definition of terms for our solar system and its components that can grow.. Now, we as astrologers, users of astrology or those who visit astrologers might not agree with the terms defined this week. That’s not important. What is important is that astrologers grow into the new working model in a way that synchronizes with the findings. Should astrologers defiantly define Pluto as a planet, those of science will further ridicule our ways, noting that we are stuck in the thinking of the Middle Ages. On that, they would be right. But dwarf planets? Many, if not all of the dwarf planets, especially the Plutonian ones create a category of astrological influences to be called EIO’s - Evolutionary Intensified Objects. Evolutionary suggests that emotional and spiritual crisis induced by the presence and passage of these bodies intends to enhance the insight, inspiration, creativity and consciousness of a person on Earth and through events on Earth containing these bodies in significant locations.

Consider the classical planets - by today’s terms including Uranus and Neptune - to be subjects and predicates of the horoscope(s). The dwarf planets submit critical flavoring in the context of strong modifying adjectives and adverbs. I propose astrologers actively use all the dwarf planets until we come to clear understanding of the influences they render. This would include Ceres, Charon, UB313 and Sedna. End the alienation. Begin the evolution. Let us link our spiritual science with the definitions of mundane science. It’s not that hard really. And if we can do that, just think! We might be the sources of inspiration for the entire world to get along better. Then you will see in Briah, through crystal windows, Sedna on the back of a gigantic manta ray surging through primordial waves in a sea blasted by silent lightning. There will be others with her, and you will say to some of them: 'My god, but you’ve been dead all these years'; and to others you will say, with tears in your eyes: 'But how can I know you so well, how can I have missed you so much, when we’ve never even met before now!' Then you may see Charon ferrying you across the river Styx with his Ipod headphones on, or you may say to Ceres "fuck me like fried potatoes on the most beautifully hungry morning of my God-damn life”. And you will leave Briah and walk out into the streets and valleys of the world, but it will never leave you.

THURSDAY, AUGUST 31
The Day of Jupiter in Waterweek. Can you recognize something better than you've ever experienced, utterly new and positive, without letting yourself be lulled into lassitude by overconfidence, arrogance or still incompleteness? Then you are up to the Jupiterian challenge today. the action begins quite early, with Vesta opposing Uranus at 12:52 a.m. PDT. This aspect has been occurring over the last few days, and now it is exact. Vesta is in Virgo, and here she relates to security and protection for working people, service people, prostitutes, the armed forces, or just the common people. The Uranus opposition shows disruption. Examples could be strikes, layoffs, war disruptions, brothel busts, military personnel suddenly being asked to extend their tours, new weapons for the military—or just weapons destroying people and their homes. It looks as if people are on the move, perhaps displaced persons, or perhaps the military. Travel in general may be difficult. Sun sits right between Mercury and Juno. It appears that there are victims.

Moon enters Sagittarius, the Gambler's sign, just after this opposition. Action moves from being intense to being reckless and wild. At 6:56 a.m., we finally have our long-awaited Saturn-Neptune opposition An aspect between these two slow planets has a major influence for some weeks, months, and years before the exact aspect, so we have been moving gradually into it. Saturn is authority and Neptune is dissolution, so events where authority is being undermined highlight this aspect. And it is, in fact, being undermined all over the world. The Saturn-Neptune conjunction which began this cycle occurred from March to November of 1989. That was the year that Europe won its freedom from Communist rule. The falling of the Berlin Wall was the climax. South Africa began its final push for equality, as de Klerk was elected President. Armed conflict in Beirut gutted the city, quite reminiscent of today. We had the Exxon Valdez disaster in Alaska, from which Alaska's ecology, sea and shore, is still suffering. In an opposition with Saturn, Neptune usually works by draining, sabotaging, or undermining some structure or institution on which people have depended. Saturn in Leo is the authority of command, of the ruler.

Neptune in Aquarius speaks to the people wanting their dignity and freedom. The immigrant movement, worker movements, the push for greater democracy and equality in Latin America, Mexicans insisting on a fair election—or at least trying to get a fair count. All of these trends are part of this opposition. And perhaps most tangibly, we have the occupations in the Middle East by Israel and by the U.S. They will not stand, for Neptune in the long run is far more powerful than Saturn. Its goal is to Metaversalize, to bring us all together, in contrast to Saturn, who builds walls. And resistance to these occupations is bringing people together. This whole Saturn-Neptune cycle has been a struggle for freedom, and now, at the opposition, we have a turning point. The struggle will probably continue for the remainder of the cycle, although it will be winding down towards the end. The new cycle begins in 2026, in the first degree of Aries, the most potent degree of the zodiac. Everything begins at that first degree.

Did you think this was enough for one day? Not so. Yet to come, in another 12 hours, is First Quarter Moon at 9 Sagittarius. First quarter is when we break through social barriers to manifest our new moon project. With Virgo Moon that project has to do with perfecting. The Sag phase spreads it out into the world, disseminates it. There is often a crisis in action at first quarter. Whatever that crisis is, it will be initiated in Washington, and the world will see it. Moon sits exactly overhead in Washington, and it is at the same longitude as Antares, one of the Royal fixed stars, who supports a warlike, belligerent, nature which arouses enemies.

The Sabian Symbol for 9 Sagittarius is interesting in the light of all of this apparently warlike energy:

"A MOTHER LEADS HER SMALL CHILD STEP BY STEP UP A STEEP STAIRWAY. The need in any society to assist the less evolved in their management of the problems which society requires its members to solve. What is implied here is SOCIAL CONCERN for the less socially evolved of society's members."

Yes, the rest of the world is concerned for us, and our unevolved focus on violence.

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 1
The Day of Venus in Fireweek. If you actively invoke blessed HANIEL, the Archangel of Venus into your heart today, you may find you have developed the ability to feel like Khrisna, multiplying himself into a dozen pastoral, naked farmhands with muddy feet and emerald pond scum on their thighs, or maybe you are a young Freya on the back of a panther, eating honey. When Venus is in Leo, love shouts its name from a vacuphazer amplified at full volume. There's little subtlety about this combination, since the planet of relationship and beauty is passing through the sign of dramatic expression. Expect your romantic life to be a bit more colorful these days, regardless of your birth chart. Leo, a fire sign, is about risk. So, Venus' placement here is a reminder to take some chances with creativity and openings of the heart. Our Lady Luna is in Sagittarius. Sagittarius represents, on the level of the first octave, the period between Conception and 7 weeks, the first Lunar month after the sperm reaches the egg, and is a compacted pattern at a molecular time scale of the entire life of the cellular body. The embryo develops in parallel with the earlier phases of evolution, retaining memory of these structures in the brain.

On the level of the fourth octave (see Chapter 9 of the Metaversal Lightcraft Training Manual for more on the Four Octaves), Sagittarius represents Initiation beyond the realms of Death (Scorpio). On the World scale, Sag occupies the period between AD 1500 and AD 1750, The Renaissance. This was the time when astrology, mathematics, musick and geometry were understood as divine techniques for communicating with the Soul of the World. With the Moon in Sagittarius we are into philosophical speculation, adventure, and foreign influences, and actions that expand the awareness through gathering unfamiliar experiences. We can do hard things today, things which promote our desires and build strange bridges and arouse otherworldly passions, the eye opening each thing like poetic treasure, perceiving at work within it, the divine imagination that animates the world. Get the responsibilities taken care of early so the rest of the day and night can be devoted to our Lady Aphrodite. The Eternal Feminine will lure to perfection

SATURNSDAY, SEPTEMBER 2
This Saturn’s day we have the Moon in Saturn’s home sign of Capricorn. With the Moon in Capricorn, opportunities are stimulated when one works hard, assumes responsibilities, and tunes into Nature and it's mystical rhythms. Capricorn represents, on the level of the first octave, the period between 7 weeks until 12 weeks after Conception, when the embryo becomes a fetus, and the sex and physical appearance are determined. The body takes form through it's skeletal system. On the level of the fourth octave (see Chapter 9 of the Metaversal Lightcraft Training Manual for more on the Four Octaves), Capricorn represents the integration and structuring of the higher perceptions of the Self in the World on a practical level. On the World scale, Capricorn occupies the period between AD 1750 and AD 1840. This was the time when the ideology of Sagittarius was translated into material form. Humanity evinced a superiority over the forces of nature, and the Industrial revolution began. Romanticism surrounded the likes of Shelley, Goethe, Byron, and Chopin, reacting to the cold prevailing mechanistic World view. Rudolph Steiner said that the human being is created, and destined to be, a self-defining creature. Are we slightly higher than monkeys or slightly lower than angels? Good old fashion hard work yields the answer.

Monkeys and Angels are set to grind corn with the Sun in Capricorn. Tackle those long term projects and remember, the Mountain must be tackled one step at a time. Connect tonight with the zero point between Metaverse and Lightpilot through a moment of folded compassion. That timeless feeling that occurs when ones focus is completely in the present encompassing the folded space of the past and futures. As an iceskater who brings in her arms to speed up and have more spin, the thought tentacles that are brought from past and future to present and centered, concentrate intense spin AND AWARENESS. Here in the center of the lightening of spirit lies the infinite information hook-up which living cells require to survive. This electric fractal information con-centricitywhispers the meaning and direction of a "long-wave" context. The long wave connection to all that is.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 3
The Day of the Sun in the Week of Water. Between dark and light the angles of times are best manifest at their balance, so invoke Apollo, Ra, Elvis, or the baby-faced Sun god from the Teletubbies into your heart Chakra this morning. Our Qabalistic thunderbolt of revelation resembles a corkscrew in more ways than one. Mr. Sun is in Virgo, on the initiatory quest for wholeness, integration, and sacred service symbolized by the archetype of the Virgin. The word "virgin" originally denoted a woman who was not necessarily chaste but unmarried, independent, and complete unto herself. In ancient times, Vestal Virgins initiated men into the sexual mysteries and served as healers for men returning from war. As an earth sign, Virgo recognizes the body as a temple of the soul and seeks to sanctify each thought, word, and deed. Have you any toothpaste? Be sure to screw the cap on tightly: I have an Virgo aunt who died not long ago from leaving the cap unscrewed on a tube of Sterident. The poor woman left the world without a will, and we’ve been squabbling over her miniature teacups ever since. Animals will love this day. They are thrilled about it. They'll romp and squeal and butt their horns and roll on their bellies like there's no tomorrow. But mostly they'll just amble along in quiet amazement at their own pure satisfaction.

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 4
Projecting Light Specific purple or octarine (a particular shade of electric pinkish purple) into your forehead and facing West, activate the Ajna Holographic Image Projection System (third eye), then invoke blessed Gabriel. Diana, or Sailor Moon into your Brow Chakra. It's the Moon's day in the week of Water. The lunar orb being receptive and reflective, focuses the qualities of the signs and other planets to our personal Lightcraft. The Lunar center, and its intimate connection with the Holographic Image Projection System, is not only the foundation for the astral plane, but is the fiery aspect of astral energy itself.Pluto turns direct today. The forward turn of the Lord of the Underworld should bring secrets to the surface. Feelings buried during recent months can erupt from unconsciousness to shake the world. Still, healing requires facing fears and forbidden desires, so the reemergence of Pluto, whether ruled a planet or not by the International Astronomical Union, provides an opportunity to clean out emotional closets and free up energy spent on repression to be applied more creatively.

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 5
Venus enters Virgo today. Refinement is a key to love and relationships as the planet of taste and attraction is filtered through the late summer light of Virgo (late winter in Perth). The Virgin, though, is no prude, but rather a woman free of a man's control. Venus' passage here is an opportunity to explore femininity without loss of individuality. If work is your drug, or a drain on your resources, finding pleasure in any and all tasks is a gift of this combination, as delight can be found in small doses in the most mundane activity.
